New Horizon House residents sign an agreement when moving in.
The agreement has a preface that “The overarching reason for this arrangement is to point a hurting and grieving man on a journey towards healing and health, with the Cross as a compass and Jesus as the destination. It is a significant risk that life patterns become dysfunctional after such a massive relational breakdown, and the purpose is to build into each other’s lives in a mutually constructive way, but benefiting from the strength of one who is at least a small step ahead on that journey.” If this is you – then welcome! If not, let’s at least talk and maybe we can point you to somewhere that better fits your needs.
There are wide ranging principles put in place in the agreement. Many are uncontroversial but two always catch attention. Without fail so far, the men who join start by saying “That’s all fine, except those two won’t work for me”. We talk it through, and share an understanding of the what and the why. So far, every resident has wound up celebrating those same principles – building together towards a better future.
If you’re intrigued and want to explore if New Horizons House is right for you, please reach out and we’ll share the principles with you and talk it through. Or if you’re wondering about setting up a similar ministry, we’d love to help there too and share our ideas for your thoughtful consideration.
