There’s a time for everything…

… and yes there’s a time for gentle questions and encouraging words.

But there’s also a time for straight talk, to the point, without pulling punches.

At New Horizons House we’re always ready with an encouraging word, or to pray with you, to go for a walk together. But we also say it like it is, and make sure our residents have heard, too. If that falls on deaf ears, we’ll usually not take “no” for an answer, and insist the self-sorry delusions get short-shift.

Often in the middle of dark and tragic separation when life feels like a nuclear bomb has gone off at your feet, our disorientation means we can miss the wood for the trees. We at NHH are not your counsellor, or your pastor; but having walked the same painful journey, we’ll call nonsense when we hear it and point you back to the Word and to prayer and to positive perspective – even in the desperation.

A resident’s journey through the bomb blast of broken relationship and towards health will require great courage for deliberately positive decisions. Those decisions are hard work in the darkness of feeling like life is not worth the pain.

But there is hope.

And we will help you find it. We’ve been there too. Brighter days will come.
